Party defections are a part and parcel of politics these days. But there is a certain limit for a politician to switch parties, beyond which, he/she could be disregarded as a serious politician by the public. This can be understood if we look into the case of actor-turned-politician Babu Mohan.
Babu Mohan started his career at TDP due to his affiliation with Sr NTR and first won as an MLA from Andole in 1998, and worked as Minister in the United Andhra Pradesh. After several years with TDP, he moved to BRS in 2014 upon the party’s resurgence in Telangana and won the Andole assembly seat again.
Later in 2018, he moved to the BJP and stayed there for 5 years before quitting in 2023 saying he was humiliated by Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay. Then he hit the lowest of lows in his political career by joining KA Paul’s Prajashanthi Party and was announced as the party’s Telangana wing president.
Cut to now, all of a sudden, Babu Mohan has changed his track again as he looks set to rejoin BRS. As per latest reports, Babu Mohan is reportedly offered the Warangal MP ticket by KCR, after the designated candidate Kadiyam Kavya defected from BRS and is set to join Congress. He could be leaving PSP soon and rejoin BRS to contest as Warangal MP candidate.
Babu Mohan has gone from TDP to TRS to BJP to Prajashanthi to BRS again in his politically unstable career. Except Congress, he has covered almost every other party in Telangana which has led to social media users funnily labeling him the real jumping star in Telangana politics.
