YS family Vs YS family in Kadapa

The election for the Kadapa Parliamentary seat is the most keenly observed in the 2024 general polls with two factions of YS family contesting against each other. The contest appears to be a boiling cauldron with the poll result likely to have a major impact on the seven Assembly constituencies falling in the purview of the MP seat.

APCC chief YS Sharmila’s name is almost finalised for the Kadapa MP seat. Only the official announcement is remaining. This will result in the electorate witnessing the YS family members pitted against each other. Kadapa has always remained as YS family’s forte. For the first time, the YS family, split into two, will contest against each other.

Sharmila will contest against her cousin YCP’s YS Avinash Reddy in Kadapa. Both of them belong to the same family and are close relatives. In the wake of Avinash Reddy being pointed out as the prime accused by the CBI in YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder, the upcoming elections are crucial as they would have a bearing on the future.

If Avinash Reddy is voted to power, there will definitely be impact on the probe and consequences of Viveka’s murder. At the same time, Sharmila contesting from Kadapa will also have an impact on the seven constituencies falling in the Kadapa MP seat limits – Badvel, Kadapa, Pulivendula, Kamalapuram, Jammalamadugu, Proddutur and Mydukur.

If the electorate believes in Sharmila, then the entire electorate in the seven constituencies would go against the YCP and the party will face rout in the Assembly elections. Sharmila’s maternal uncle Ravindranath Reddy (Vijayamma’s brother) is contesting from the Kamalapuram constituency.

But, if the voters do not believe in Sharmila, then the YCP will stand to gain in two ways. It will send strong signals that the people are not believing that Avinash Reddy and others are not behind the murder of Vivekananda Reddy and also scuttle Sharmila’s growth in politics forever as she is a newbie in politics.
