Speaker To Decide Jagan’s position in Assembly!

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), led by outgoing chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, faced a significant setback in the recent state assembly elections, drawing a blank in eight of the 13 erstwhile combined districts of Andhra Pradesh. The party secured only 11 seats, less than what Janasena secured. As a result, Jagan may not be able to enjoy cabinet-rank protocol.

Now that Jagan’s party stood third in the elections, he may not become the opposition leader. As a result, he will lose the cabinet-rank protocol and other allowances that will be attached by default.

Interestingly, Jagan is the high-profile chief minister facing a situation like this in the country. Despite losing power thrice in the past, Chandra Babu never lost the main opposition leader position, but Jagan will have to face the setback. As a result, the speaker will decide on the seating of YS Jagan in the Assembly.

If all three parties (TDP, JSP, and BJP) contribute to the government’s formation, Jagan will remain the only one in opposition, resulting in him being seated in the front row. But, the latest developments see that it may not happen and the speaker will decide the position of YS Jagan.

In a dramatic shift from the 2019 state assembly elections, where the YSRCP had secured 151 out of 175 assembly seats, the party managed to win only 11 seats in 2024.

On the other hand, Chandrababu Naidu will be taking the oath as chief minister on the 12th of this month.
