Former Telangana IT minister and BRS party working president KTR has landed himself in soup with his latest post on X. KTR’s attempt to target the ruling Congress party over Premier Energies’ decision to move its operations to Andhra Pradesh has angered the people of AP.
KTR took to his X account on Saturday and shared a news clipping of Andhra Pradesh bagging Premier Energies’ 4 gigawatt solar photovoltaic cell manufacturing plant worth Rs 1,700 crore, which was originally supposed to be set up in the Seetharampur Industrial Park in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district.
KTR went on to write, “Telangana was once a magnet for investments, attracting reputed companies under the BRS government. Now, under Congress rule, investors are choosing Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and even Andhra Pradesh over Telangana. The question is—why? Is it the 20-30% commissions or RR Tax? The people of Telangana deserve answers.” He also added the hashtag #CongressFailedTelangana at the end of his post.
Within no time, KTR’s post went viral, particularly attracting severe backlash from the people of Andhra Pradesh. Many found fault with KTR’s “Even Andhra Pradesh” phrase. While some felt that he should have phrased it in a better manner to avoid misunderstandings, AP people fumed at the BRS leader for his “arrogance” and discrimination against Andhra Pradesh even after 10 years of the formation of the separate Telangana state.
Reacting to KTR’s controversial post, a TDP supporter mocked him, saying that Andhra Pradesh is now ruled by Nara Chandrababu Naidu and not YS Jagan. KTR’s comments after Chandrababu’s arrest under Jagan’s rule had irked many Andhrites. And with the GHMC elections scheduled to be held in a few months, his latest comments are sure to dent the BRS party’s chances in the areas that are inhabited by a large number of Andhra settlers in Hyderabad.
