The incumbent Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh K. Vijayanand who is due for retirement on superannuation got an extension of three months from December 1st 2025 to February 28th 2026. The government of Andhra Pradesh led by Chief Minister passed necessary orders to this effect to extend the tenure of K. Vijayanand.
Meanwhile, the government has chosen the successor of Vijayanand. Senior bureaucrat G. Sai Prasad, who is currently working as Water Resources Department Special Chief Secretary and Ex-Officio Special CS to Chief Minister will take over the responsibility from K. Vijayanand as the Chief Secretary of Government of Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Sai Prasad will be the new Chief Secretary, with effect from March 1, 2026, said a Government Order issued on Saturday.
A 1991-batch IAS officer, Mr. Sai Prasad started his career as Warangal Joint Collector in June 1992 and has since served in various capacities in united Andhra Pradesh. He worked for the Government of India as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Power for more than two years.
G. Sai Prasad is due for retirement in May next year. However, the government is likely to extend his tenure for another six months as per reliable sources in GAD. An MTech grad from IIT Delhi, Sai Prasad has served as Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA), CMD of AP Central Power Distribution Corporation and VC of AP Housing Board.
