The YSR Congress party led by Jagan Mohan Reddy has a bad reputation for defending supporters with criminal history and those who resort to illegal activities. This was evident when the party backed the animal sacrifice activities carried out all over the state on the eve of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s birthday in December.
It is a known fact that several cases under Animal Cruelty Act were recently lodged on YSRCP activists across the state for publicly slaughtering animals as part of the birthday celebrations of Jagan Mohan Reddy. Numerous incidents of road blockages, animal sacrifices and brandishing of weapons in the name of celebrations came to the light on the same day.
While the ruling government condemned such law breaking activities and public nuisance, Jagan Mohan Reddy seems to have now extended his customary support to the offenders and also assured them that the party would stand in support for all those who are involved in the unlawful act of Animal Cruelty.
As per the latest reports in the print media, Jagan is said to have met some of his party supporters, who are facing cases on Animal Cruelty Act, at his office on Wednesday. All these supporters belong to Gopalapuram consistency and were close associates of YSRCP incharge and former Home Minister Taneti Vanitha.
Jagan has reportedly assured that the legal cell of YSRCP would extend all support to those facing cases. He is said to have criticised the ruling coalition government for filing cases on his party activists and also called out the high handedness of the police department.
YSRCP Congress party has already been facing a lot of flak from the public for encouraging party followers who take law into their hands and resort to violence. Now, if Jagan openly extends support to those indulging in culpable acts, it will further damage the image of the party in public view.
