The political heat in Andhra Pradesh over the adulterated ghee issue refuses to die down. With the CBI charge sheet becoming a fresh point of argument, both YSR Congress and TDP leaders are continuing the war of words.
In the middle of this debate, a new controversy erupted over comments made by former YCP MP Gorantla Madhav. While countering CM Chandrababu Naidu’s repeated assertion that Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala is his family deity, Gorantla attempted to question the logic behind it. However, his remarks have now become the subject of widespread trolling on social media.
Gorantla claimed that the YS family’s devotion to Lord Venkateswara is evident because Jagan’s great grandfather was named Venkat Reddy. He argued that people name their children after deities only if they have strong faith in them. In the same breath, he questioned why no one in Chandrababu Naidu’s immediate family carries a name associated with Lord Venkateswara if the deity is truly their family god.
He pointed out that Chandrababu’s father was named Kharjura Naidu and his son is named Lokesh, asking why names like Venkateswara were not chosen in the family. The statement quickly triggered reactions online.
Many netizens responded by saying that naming traditions in Hindu families often depend on astrology, including birth star, date, and priestly advice. They argued that devotion to a deity does not necessarily require naming a family member after that god. Several social media users described Gorantla’s reasoning as weak and illogical, turning his comments into a trending topic.
