Why Land at Just 99 Paisa per Acre? Lokesh Explains!

The government of Andhra Pradesh has taken a very progressive stand when it comes to inviting investments to the state. IT Minister Lokesh devised a strategy where leading companies will be given lands in Vizag and other prominent hubs for just 99 paise per acre in order to entice companies to set their establishments here.

Meanwhile, the YSR Congress ecosystem has been looking to make a meal out of this by saying what is the need to give land at such prices to private companies.

While this has been an issue that is being raised by YCP for a while, Lokesh took the occasion in the legislative Council to clearly explain the fact of the matter.

Lokesh pointed out that it is the responsibility of the government to build a strong IT ecosystem in Vizag and certain measures will have to be taken to ensure this year.

“YCP ruled the state for five years, but they did nothing. Why didn’t they develop a IT ecosystem in Vizag? Today we are having to give land at such throwaway prices to bring companies. In the last 18 months, we could bring TCS, Cognizant, Google and others. These YCP leaders are questioning our integrity while they had done nothing to the state. We are taking steps to build an IT and infra network from scratch.” Lokesh said.

Lokesh, even explained the example of Hyderabad as he said “Chief minister, Chandrababu Garu had previously brought ISB, Microsoft and Infosys to Hyderabad by offering lands. And all that ground work is now reflecting in Hyderabad which has become a GCC city.” He implied that the Hyderabad formula is being imposed in Vizag.

The fact of the matter here is that Chandrababu has the reputation of building a global capital like Hyderabad in United Andhra Pradesh. And now he is on a mission to do something similar in Amaravati, Vizag, and other parts of Andhra Pradesh.

The progress in connection with leading companies like TCS and Google coming to Andhra after a clear vacuum between 2019-24 is a clear testament to this, an anguished TDP supporter commented on this matter.
