Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is known to be a workaholic. But then, there is a major complaint with him. He is known for tormenting the bureaucrats and officials with very long review meetings. Sometimes the meetings begin in the mornings and go up to midnight.
After winning the 2024 elections, Chandrababu Naidu reportedly said internally that he had reassessed his earlier approach and indicated he would avoid holding marathon review meetings in the future. In fact, he religiously followed that in the initial months of this term.
But then, there are reports that Naidu is slowly going back to the old ways. The bureaucrats are complaining that the review meetings are being painfully long.
The other day, the collectors’ meeting almost started at 9 AM and ended late at night. Although Naidu’s intentions are clear and good about these meetings, the bureaucrats and the machinery that works for them would burn out.
Also, they would feel like being micromanaged or spoon fed which is not at all good.
This would have a ripple effect down the ecosystem as the bureaucrats go back and torment their subordinates who would go down further.
The 2024 election is the first time the TDP has enjoyed a decent support from the Government employees. That should not be messed up.
That does not mean the employees should be left alone and they do not work. Effective leadership is all about smartly managing the resources without the employees complaining.
Naidu had already acknowledged this issue and so, someone should alert him that he is returning to the old ways. 2024 is a hard-earned victory and taking care of every small thing is important to win another term.
