One of the principal catalysts that were in favour of YS Jagan during the 2019 Andhra Pradesh election campaign was his chief political strategist Prashant Kishor. This combination delivered a remarkable result in the election by winning 151 seats.
But things changed drastically in 2024, as Prashanth moved away from Jagan and even predicted his downfall. In fact, Prashanth was so accurate about his prediction of Jagan’s downfall that the YCP got confined to just 11 seats. This grew friction between PK and Jagan’s camp as the party men didn’t expect him to give such a harsh reality check to the YCP chief.
However, the latest developments are suggesting that there could be a possible coming back of this combination of Jagan and PK for the 2029 election.
Apparently, Jagan is aware of the gaps that were left by the IPAC team which failed miserably without Prashant Kishor. At one point, there were speculations that this team was providing intelligence to Jagan on candidates selection and he blindly trusted them with everything. The result was blatantly and overwhelmingly against Jagan as his party got relegated to nearly single digits.
And now there are Telugu media reports commenting, the Jagan could be going back to trusting Prashant Kishor with the job of filling the gaps in YCP leadership and working cadre. Also, PK’s expertise and experience on this matter, will help Jagan on multiple counts.
For now, this might just sound as just political speculation in the Andhra Pradesh media circles but at the end of the day, anything can happen in politics as there are no permanent enemies or friends here.
But considering Jagan’s shrewd and unforgiving mindset, it has to be seen if he’d endorse PK who spoke against him in 2024 and would actually go on to work with him in 2029. This is a question that will be answered only in the future.
