It is now official that the Central Government had decided to increase the number of Assembly and Parliament Seats in the country ahead of the 2029 elections.
The Lok Sabha seats in the country will be increased from 543 to 816 and the number of Assembly Seats will go up to 6,185 from the existing 4,123 seats.
In AP, the current 175 Assembly seats to 263 and 25 Lok Sabha Seats to 38. Telangana Assembly seats will go up to 179 from 119 seats and Parliament Seats from 17 to 26.
After Delimitation, Women Reservation will also be implemented. 33% of the Total Seats will be reserved for women, in all probability, from 2029 elections.
Ever since the news about the Delimitation is out, there are lists of the women-reserved constituencies doing rounds on social media.
These lists are creating panic in the sitting MLAs, Incharges of Big Parties, and Aspirants.
But then, all these lists are fake.
Once the census is done and the Delimitation is finished, only then, the women-reserved seats will be finalized.
We do not have the correct population figures right now.
The Process of Increasing the Seats and redrawing their boundaries is called Delimitation. The last Delimitation happened in 2008.
We will have change of geographical borders of the existing constituencies. Some Mandals will added and some will be removed from the existing constituencies.
Only after the new constituencies are finalized and latest census numbers are out, the reservations will be finalized.
Not just the women reservations, the remaining reservations will also be changed with the change of constituencies.
So, the lists doing rounds now are all fake.
There is also a proposal by the Modi Government to delink the delimitation from 2026 Census and fast-track it by using 2011 census. But then, the states have to agree for it. Even if that is approved, the reservations will be clear only after the Delimitation is completed.
