It is already known that the Andhra Pradesh government has unanimously completed the process of notifying Amaravati as the permanent capital of the state. This was formalised in the Assembly yesterday in the presence of CM Chandrababu Naidu and DCM Pawan Kalyan, while YS Jagan reddy was notably absent.
Coming to the latest developments, sources from the power corridors in New Delhi suggest that high-level talks have been initiated regarding central legislation for Amaravati.
Reportedly, senior BJP leader and former Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu has initiated discussions with Amit Shah on this matter. The two leaders are said to have discussed fast-tracking the central legislation for Amaravati.
It is understood that Amit Shah conveyed to Naidu that the process had begun earlier and that the Home Ministry has already cleared the necessary files. The only step pending now is the presentation of the proposal before the Union Cabinet and its subsequent approval.
Considering Venkaiah Naidu’s strong connections at the central level, his involvement in this key issue is seen as a positive development for Andhra Pradesh. Another encouraging update is that the Home Ministry has completed its scrutiny and the file has been moved to the Cabinet stage.
There are also reports that the proposal could be taken up in Parliament on April 1, with formal approval expected soon after.
