‘Heroes Must Take Drug Tests Before Film Release’

The film industry is often seen as a soft target by several entities and that’s why we constantly see verbal reprimands on the film stars. A similar scenario was observed today as Telangana Congress MLA Anirudh Reddy made a tall statement about Telugu cinema stars.

In his interaction with the media today, the Jadcherla MLA came out all guns blazing against cinema stars and the drug culture in the industry. “Cinema stars have huge following amongst public, so they should wage a war against drugs. If cinema heroes voluntarily take drug tests and campaign against drug usage, their fans will listen and the society will change.”

Anirudh Reddy further added that the film industry is generally a hub for drug culture and this needs to stop. “Every actor must take a mandatory drug test every 90 days and only if they get negative results, should their films be released.” He proposed.

However, this aggressive comment by the Telangana MLA immediately draw a strong reaction on social media.

Commenting under the video of Anirudh, a Telugu cinema follower wrote “Politicians should also face IT raids every 6 months, and their property details should be made public to all citizens. Only then will people believe that not all politicians are corrupt, and that they have entered politics not for personal gain, but purely to serve the public.”

Another common man posted “Im with this campaign but Cinema is not a public service and is being run as a pay per view model, whoever work in cinema will he as same as members of a Business, nothing else and their personal life does not affect the product we watch by paying the ticket price.”

And at the same time, a few people are even supporting the comment made by the MLA as they are pointing out that there is nothing wrong in heroes taking drug tests and setting the right example for the society.
