Jagan’s MAVIGUN Move A Smart Political Gamble?

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy supported Amaravati before the 2019 elections. He used to say he is the only leader with a permanent residence in Amaravati and so he is the only committed leader towards the Capital issue.

And then between 2019 and 2024, he said three capitals pitching Vishakapatnam as the actual capital. But all of sudden, he surprised everyone by taking up MAVIGUN.

The Party sources say there is no discussion about it in the Party and it was more like a decision taken by Jagan Mohan Reddy and his close coterie.

So, there are doubts why this sudden shift from Three Capitals to MAVIGUN.

Despite having the majority of 151 seats between 2019 and 2024, Jagan Mohan Reddy could not move the capital from Amaravati to Vishakapatnam due to legal issues.

The issue got tangled in courts and TDP blocked the bill of three capitals using its majority in the Council.

MAVIGUN will solve the legal issues surrounding the Capital Shift.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, if voted to Power, will not shift the Capital. The existing constructions will be used as is while the real capital will be the MA-VI-GUN region.

Amaravati is nothing but an extension to the MAVIGUN. It will be like the outskirts of MAVIGUN.

He believes Chandrababu Naidu at best can only finish the Government Buildings in Amaravati.

Jagan will declare MAVIGUN as the Capital and say all the Government Buildings will be at one place (Amaravati) and in the outskirts.

Anyway, the lands are costly in Machilipatnam, Vijayawada, and Guntur belt and Jagan could not acquire lands to build these buildings.

Chandrababu already acquired lands in land pooling and is building the Government buildings there.

So, he will not change the capital but will claim the capital region is extended until Machilipatnam.

Amaravati will also be the part of the Capital Region but his Government would not do anything there.

All this is when Jagan manages to come to power in 2029 and based on the assumption that Chandrababu Naidu could not do much in the next three years.
