Ahead of the crucial Floor Test in Tamil Nadu Assembly, Chief Minister Vijay has got a shot in the arm after 30 MLAs of AIADMK rebelled on the party and pledged their support to the TVK Party. The Floor Test will be a formality from here.
But how should Vijay react to this?
He should be definitely be happy because the Floor Test will be without any surprises now and also, this will make sure the smaller parties like VCK, IUML, Left, and Congress do not blackmail the Government.
Vijay should be worried because he is moving forward with the same people whom he called as corrupt once.
Meanwhile, Buzz in the media circles is that Amit Shah is behind AIADMK SP Velumani faction turning rebel against EPS.
If SPV Faction gets Ministries, it will be a really key development and many suspect the Maharashtra game plan is replicated in Tamil Nadu.
The “Maharashtra Game Plan” refers to the BJP’s well-documented strategy of engineering splits within opposition or allied parties by backing rebel factions, offering them key positions and ministries, and using those breakaway groups to form or stabilize a government.
This bypasses traditional alliances and weakens rivals without needing a full majority upfront. In this case, the fate of Congress, CPI, CPM , IUML and VCK hang in thin air.
This reduces their bargaining power in ministry allocation, policy influence, or even continued alliance relevance.
Some may be sidelined, asked to merge support quietly, or left out entirely as the “new majority” is stitched with the AIADMK rebels.
It is the classic Maharashtra-style outcome – the original small allies get squeezed when bigger rebel blocs are absorbed.
In a way, the BJP can run a Government indirectly. Remember the Saffron Party has just one MLA in the State Assembly!
