Telugu Desam Party’s annual flagship event Mahanadu is set to take place in a completely new format this year. Instead of conducting the grand gathering physically, Chandrababu Naidu has decided to organize the event online as part of fuel saving measures.
Every year, Mahanadu is celebrated on May 27 and 28 with massive participation from party cadres across Andhra Pradesh. Last year, the event was held in Kadapa, the home district of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. This time, Nellore was initially finalized as the venue.
However, changing global conditions and the ongoing West Asia conflict reportedly forced the party leadership to rethink the scale of the event. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressing fuel conservation measures nationwide, Chandrababu reportedly chose the online route to avoid large scale fuel consumption.
As part of the new plan, only Politburo members will attend the event directly from NTR Bhavan in Mangalagiri. The celebrations and speeches will be broadcast live to party workers across the state through giant screens.
Interestingly, the party is planning arrangements in nearly 1,845 clusters across Andhra Pradesh to ensure cadres can watch the event from their own regions. Leaders believe this modern approach can help save resources while still maintaining the festive spirit of Mahanadu.
What surprised many is that preparations had already begun in Nellore for the grand physical event. But following the leadership’s latest decision, all venue related works reportedly came to a sudden halt by Friday evening itself.
Interestingly, YCP leaders initially trolled TDP and questioned whether Chandrababu Naidu would really scale down a massive event like Mahanadu in the name of fuel conservation.
They believed he would never compromise on the party’s prestigious annual gathering. However, known for taking unexpected strategic decisions, Chandrababu officially shifting Mahanadu online has now turned into a strong counter to the opposition’s criticism.
