CBN’s ’40k For 4th Child’ Initiative: What’s Public Reaction?

Declining population index has been a major problem for several countries, including the developed ones like Japan. A similar is being observed in India as well and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is concerned about it.

Chandrababu had been repeatedly emphasising the need to have a positive population index, and he spoke at length about the same today as well.

While addressing a public meeting today, the Andhra Pradesh chief minister stated that any parents having their third child will receive ₹30,000 support from Andhra Pradesh government and fourth child will get ₹40,000.

These are some pretty significant financial allocations promised by the Andhra Pradesh chief minister and they’ve attracted mixed reactions on the internet.

A few people are acknowledging the effort of the CM to have a positive population growth index. But many people are commenting that India is already the most populated country in the world while the social infrastructure is lagging behind.

With poor road conditions and inadequate educational opportunities and health standards, the last thing India needs now is a spike in population.

There are several negative comments under this video of Chandrababu’s speech about providing financial assistance to parents for additional children.

This is perhaps a reflection of the mood of the nation on this matter. But at the end of the day, it is more of an administrative decision rather than a public consensus as far as the CM is concerned.
