Will Attacking PK Help Kavitha’s Political Game ?

Even though the recent political controversy in Telangana ignited in the backdrop of Pawan Kalyan’s statements boiled down after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his Congress party decided to move away from the topic, former MLC and TRS chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha seems to be keen on bringing up the same issue again and again to stoke up the regional sentiment among her supporters.

The Telangana Rakshana Sena president has now gone to the extent of demanding the Revanth Reddy-led Telangana government immediately file a sedition case against Pawan Kalyan for his recent comments on the state. Speaking at an event in Karimnagar today, Kavitha strongly condemned recent remarks made by Pawan Kalyan during a program in Delhi.

She alleged that the Janasena chief compared Telangana regional ideology to terrorism and separatism, which she argued is a deep insult to the people of Telangana and the historic Telangana movement. She also questioned the silence of the state administration for not initiating legal action against the AP Deputy CM.

She further targeted the Telangana government, claiming that its failure to file a case reveals its weakness and inability to defend the self-respect of the region. Surprisingly, she appealed to all her supporters and the people of Telangana to not encourage movie stars beyond their on-screen histrionics.

‘This is not the first time that Kavitha has targeted Pawan Kalyan using the Telangana sentiment in recent times. Despite the fact that Pawan Kalyan never really tried to create any rift between the people of two Telugu speaking states, Kavitha has been intentionally trying to keep the recent issue in the limelight and gain some mileage with her political game’, a political observer remarked.

This persistent offensive by Kavitha raises a critical question in the political circles. Will this continuous attack yield political dividends for Kavitha ? or Is it a miscalculated strategy ? Only time will tell the answer.
