Governor Quota MLC Seats: Will Two Out Of Those Four Get A Chance?

Zakia Khanam and Pandula Ravindra Babu (both nominated by YSR Congress), who hold MLC seats under the Andhra Pradesh Governor’s quota, are set to expire in another month.

Since only two seats are falling vacant, it appears likely that the Telugu Desam Party will secure them and the allies have to wait for the next turn.

TDP Leaders who sacrificed their seats during the elections because of the alliance are expecting a chance.

SVSN Varma, Devineni Uma, Vangaveeti Radha, and Mahasena Rajesh are expecting a berth.

Varma sacrificed his Pithapuram constituency for Pawan Kalyan. But then, Chandrababu Naidu himself downsized Varma in Pithapuram to ease things for Pawan Kalyan.

He was recently removed as the Pithapuram TDP Incharge. We will have to see if he will be given a chance.

Meanwhile, Vangaveeti Radha, a key figure in Bezwada politics, and senior leader Devineni Uma, who has toiled for the party for years, are also in the race.

Vangaveeti Radha stuck with the party despite not being given a chance to contest in the last two elections.

Devineni Uma sacrificed his seat to his arch-rival Vasantha Krishna Prasad who joined TDP just before the elections.

Additionally, Mahasena Rajesh, a strong voice representing the Dalit community, is trying his luck. Mahasena Rajesh was initially given the P Gannavaram Ticket in 2024.

Due to massive backlash over his past “anti-Hindu” comments, criticism of Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan, and opposition from RSS, BJP, Brahmin groups & allies, he withdrew voluntarily, stating he didn’t want to harm the party or its image amid the controversy.

He remained loyal to the party despite that incident.

It remains to be seen if two of these four individuals will be given the opportunity.
