For some reason, YSR Congress always failed to strike the chord with the aspirations and thoughts of the people of Vishakapatnam.
That is the reason why the party under-performed in Vishakapatnam even at the peak of Jagan’s popularity in 2019 and that is why the people did not trust them even though they projected the Port City as the Capital in 2024. Now they are up against the planned Beach Shacks in Vizag Beach.
Globally and in tourist destinations like Goa, they typically function as laid-back, open-air restaurants, bars, and lounges that offer sunbeds right on the seashore.
YSR Congress is making it as Cultural issue saying that serving Alcohol will create nuisance and allowing foreign tourists will create uncomfortable scenes like women roaming in Bikinis.
YSR Congress Women leaders have staged a dharna in the Beach today opposing the Government’s proposal. However, this is outdated thinking.
The entire state of Goa runs on Tourist Revenue. If the Government is able to tap that in Vishakapatnam, it will be a massive Revenue Generator for the Port City and the State. Also, it will put Vishakapatnam on the World tourism map.
Goa is the only state that has tapped this potential fully. But the state is coming to saturation because of various reasons including the Taxi Mafia.
Andhra Pradesh Government rightly focused in that direction but as always, YSR Congress is opposing it. Sadly, none of the Ruling party leaders were able to explain the real intention clearly.
