The anticorruption bureau of Telangana has been one of the best performing investigative agencies across India. The kind of recovery that the ACB has been with regard to illegal assets of government employees has been phenomenal.
Recently, it was the case of police officer Bheem Reddy, who happens to be a DSP rank officer and has amassed crores of money during his service.
Now, another case has been established where this one particular HMDA officer has amassed more than 100 crores in illegal possession.
Incidentally, the ACB had earlier today nabbed B Ravinder, Chief Engineer at The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Hyderabad. This HMDA Chief Engineer B. Ravinder has acquired assets by indulging in Corrupt Practices and dubious means during his service.
Telangana ACB conducted searches on Tuesday, July 14, at his house, office and 9 other places belonging to his relatives, associates and benamis.
The ACB detected disproportionate assets worth ₹9.24 crore at official value, with the market value estimated at over ₹100 crore. The haul includes five open plots, four residential flats, a villa, a G+4 building, four acres of agricultural land, and several commercial properties. Investigators also found that a significant portion of the wealth and land was allegedly held in the names of benamis.
The fact that a single HMDA officer who held a top position at the Authority had gained over Rs 100 crore is an indication of the kind of corruption that’s happening at the engineering level and this really needs to be stopped. It is good on the part of the Telangana ACB, to be very ruthless with the investigative action as several of these administrative officers are coming under the legal scrutiny now.
