AP Students to Get Free Eye Checkup in Schools

The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a statewide free eye screening program for school students from today. Around 43.30 lakh students studying in government and private schools will undergo eye checkups as part of the initiative.

The program covers students between the ages of 6 and 18 years. Medical teams will conduct eye examinations in schools to identify vision related problems at an early stage.

Officials expect nearly 2.50 lakh students to be diagnosed with vision issues. These students will receive free prescription glasses to help improve their eyesight and support their learning.

The initiative is being implemented under the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment. The government has urged parents to ensure their children participate in the eye screening camps being held at their schools.

The program aims to improve students’ eye health and prevent vision related problems from affecting their education.
