Vijaya Sai Reddy Fuels Deputy PM Talk for Amit Shah

Back in the day, it was a common practice in Indian politics to appoint a deputy Prime Minister, who will be operating at the next capacity to the Prime Minister. Since Narendra Modi took office, India has not had a Deputy Prime Minister during any of his three terms.

But now, YSR Congress senior leader Vijaya Sai Reddy, who is reportedly trying to join the BJP, has dropped a significant hint about the appointment of a new Deputy Prime Minister.

Sai Reddy posted earlier today that there are reports that Amit Shah could be appointed as the deputy PM in the upcoming cabinet reshuffle. He commented that Amit Shah had been displaying decisive leadership for a long time now, and he fully deserves the deputy PM position.

Sai Reddy commented that it would be a fitting position for Amit Shah to hold the deputy PM post, which was earlier held by Sardar Vallabhai Patel. Reddy was very appreciative and encouraging of Amit Shah, and the new position that he could possibly be holding.

If at all there are media reports about the appointment of Amit Shah as the upcoming deputy PM, Sai Reddy, actually taking the time and posting this on social media could be an indication of the internal communications.

Needless to say, there have been multiple political theories about Amit Shah being projected as the next PM candidate after Modi. So if he gets appointed as the deputy PM, it could be a stage preparing exercise for his potential appointment as the PM in the future. But for now, there is no official word on this matter from the central cabinet.
