Is Rahul Gandhi Failing To Capitalise Biggest Youth Issue?

For the first time in recent years, the youth in India have been protesting against the government as Jantar Mantri is absolutely fired up with the cockroach party movement. This is slowly, but surely gaining momentum with the protesting unit, preparing to reach the Parliament.

However, the fundamental point that must be noted here is that the opposition leader of India Rahul Gandhi appeared to be failing in capitalising on this huge youth movement.

While former chief minister, Aravindh Kejriwal and Jammu Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah had arrived at the Jantar Mantar protest location earlier, people expected Rahul Gandhi also to do the same. Everyone felt the presence of the opposition leader of the country arriving at this youth oriented protest would change the whole scenario.

However, Rahul Gandhi doesn’t appear to have as much inclination towards this protest as he had not arrived at the Jantar Mantar till now except visiting injured youth at hospital. With so much protest happening and adequate police action being taken, Rahul Gandhi’s presence would have changed the entire scenario to a whole new level.

It would have been a mutual progress for both as Rahul could have gained significant political mileage, and the movement would also have been acknowledged in the presence of the opposition leader. But neither happened till now with Rahul confining his support to the movement at the media level.

Rahul is speaking in favour of this protest in front of the Media, but that is not enough to fuel his own campaign or the intensity of the protest itself. While such a big opportunity is presenting itself in front of Rahul, he appears to be strangely deserting the same.
