Perni Nani’s Cheap Talk on MLA Quarters!

Former minister and YSRCP leader Perni Nani has once again targeted the Chandrababu Naidu government over Amaravati. This time, he questioned the construction and use of the MLA quarters in the capital region.

Nani said the government is creating a lot of hype around Amaravati but is yet to deliver substantial development on the ground. Referring to the MLA quarters, he questioned how many MLAs would actually stay there when the Assembly session begins. He said MLA quarters would end up accommodating MLAs’ drivers or even anti-social elements when they are vacant. Nani, being a former minister, stooped so low in making such comments. This cheap talk of Nani is exactly in tune with YSRCP leaders who have indulged in such vulgar comments that have already backfired in previous elections.

MLA quarters are meant to provide accommodation for elected legislators, and their actual occupancy can depend on several factors. Questioning their usefulness even before the Assembly session begins can come across as political criticism rather than a serious assessment of the Amaravati project.

Instead of focusing on who will occupy the MLA quarters, the political debate should be about infrastructure, development and delivery on the ground.

Nani’s comments may generate political noise, but they do not offer much substance on the larger Amaravati debate. Cheap comments on MLA quarters may grab attention, but they cannot replace a serious discussion on Amaravati’s development.
