Raksha Bandhan: The Two Telugu Sibling Duos We Miss

There was a time when two Telugu political families regularly gave us memorable brother sister pictures.

One was YS Jagan and YS Sharmila from Andhra Pradesh. The other was KTR and Kavitha from Telangana. Today, such pictures have become rare, as political differences have changed the equation between these siblings.

Jagan and Sharmila were once seen together frequently during the YSR family’s political journey. But over the years, their relationship turned bitter. Sharmila eventually moved away from Jagan’s political path, first launching the YSR Telangana Party and later joining the Congress in Andhra. Their differences have also involved disputes over family assets.

The KTR and Kavitha equation has also changed significantly. Kavitha was once an important face of the Telangana movement and the BRS, while KTR became one of the party’s key leaders. However, differences within the family and the BRS eventually became public.

Kavitha was suspended from the BRS in 2025 and later decided to take her own political path. In April 2026, she launched her own political party, Telangana Rakshana Sena, marking a clear political separation from the party led by her father KCR and brother KTR.

For Telugu political followers, these changes have also meant the disappearance of those familiar family pictures.

From Jagan and Sharmila in Andhra Pradesh to KTR and Kavitha in Telangana, the old sibling moments are now mostly memories.

Politics may have changed their equations, but people still remember the days when these brother sister duos were seen together on the same stage and in the same frame.
