Sai Reddy’s Allegation Strategy – Is Jagan Next?

Vijayasai Reddy was once Jagan’s right-hand man and considered to be the No. 2 in the YSRCP. He was also a former Rajya Sabha MP and a very close aide of Jagan. However, Sai Reddy distanced from Jagan and his party completely.

Sai Reddy’s sensational open letter directly targeting Jagan’s coterie has become a talking point in political circles. With strong allegations against Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and others in his letter, Sai Reddy has indicated that he launched a fresh series of attacks against Jagan and his team.

When Vijay Sai Reddy had announced his resignation from the YSRCP, Sai Reddy said that he would focus on farming and stay away from politics. Soon after, however, he started making allegations against what he described as the “coterie” around Jagan.

Sai Reddy later indirectly suggested that Jagan should identify these people and understand how they were affecting the party. Now, in his latest open letter, Sai Reddy has gone a step further by directly attacking Sajjala and questioning Jagan’s silence over the alleged actions of the coterie.

Sai Reddy questioned why Sajjala’s name does not feature in the cases involving Jagan, while he himself was named A5 in the liquor case and A2 in the Kakinada Port case. He also alleged that Sajjala had a secret understanding with the then Congress government and later with the TDP. These are Sai Reddy’s allegations and have not been established as facts.

He also referred to a senior Uttarandhra leader, without naming him, and alleged that the leader was responsible for poisoning Jagan’s mind against him, eventually leading to his removal as the party’s Uttarandhra in-charge. Sai Reddy further claimed that the leader is now ready to join the TDP.

The sequence of Sai Reddy’s statements has now become a talking point in political circles. His allegations did not come out all at once. Instead, he initially spoke about the coterie in general, later hinted that Jagan should take note of it and has now directly attacked Sajjala while also questioning Jagan’s silence.

Some political observers feel that Sai Reddy may have deliberately kept his stronger allegations for later, particularly around the announcement of his new political plans. Releasing them in stages has helped keep attention on him and has given greater mileage to his political move.

The bigger question now is whether Sai Reddy will stop with the coterie or directly target Jagan after formally announcing his new political party.

With local body elections also approaching, Sai Reddy’s allegations could once again bring the internal issues within the YSRCP into the political spotlight. Whether this strategy will help Sai Reddy build his new political platform or only deepen his differences with Jagan remains to be seen.
