Supreme Serious On SIT Over AP Liquor Scam

The highly infamous Andhra Pradesh liquor scam that allegedly happened prior to 2024 under the YS Jagan regime has reached the Supreme Court now. The court held fundamental hearing on this case and had a pretty strong reaction.

The Supreme Court questioned the lethargic approach taken by the special investigation team SIT with regard to the investigation procedure on this case.

The apex court pointed out that this case has been progressing for the last couple of years without substantial progress beyond the questioning of suspects Raj Kasireddy and D Vasudeva Reddy.

The Supreme Court question, if the police are actually prepared to investigate the suspects in this case rather than repeatedly ask for judicial remand and production warrants. It was made very clear that the SIT must investigate the case on priority without further delay.

This could be a pretty significant push from the Supreme Court as the chances are that the investigation could be tracked from here and the main culprit who are in custody will face the music. It has to be seen if this earful from the Supreme Court would warrant further investigative progress from the authorities.
