The BJP reportedly received a massive Rs 1,472.8 crore during the recent Assembly elections held across West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The figures are based on the party’s election expenditure statements submitted to the Election Commission. The data has now highlighted the huge financial gap between the BJP and the Congress during the polls.
According to the reports, the BJP received more than seven times the funds received by the Congress during these five state elections, underlining the party’s massive financial strength.
The BJP used the funds for its election campaign across the states, with Assam emerging as one of the major areas of expenditure. The figures offer a glimpse into the scale of spending involved in major Assembly elections.
The latest data has once again brought the issue of political party funding into focus, especially the huge difference in financial resources available to the Ruling party BJP and the Congress during elections.
