High Drama: CM Protesting At Election Commission Office!

The Congress party is taking the fight to the BJP-led central government and also the Central election commission with regard to the alleged discrepancies in the electioneering process. They have been demanding the immediate pause of SIR process and removal of Gyanesh Kumar as the election commission chief.

This is getting substantiated further with the latest activity by Karnataka chief minister DK Shivakumar, who has done something unexpected.

Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar and cabinet ministers arrived at the Chief Electoral Office in Bengaluru today, demanding a complaint seeking FIRs over allegedly fraudulent Form 7 applications for voter deletions

Shivakumar alleges BJP agents are attempting to remove 10,000 voters in each of Karnataka’s 224 Assembly constituencies, beginning with Mahadevapura.

He says he has submitted evidence and letters allegedly admitting wrongdoing, questioning how those involved obtained confidential voter details.

Refusing to leave until action is taken, he has postponed this evening’s cabinet meeting. He says election authorities have called a video conference with all deputy commissioners.

This is possibly the first time that sitting chief minister from south india is actively protesting outside the Election commission office and demanding action on the spot. This must be a significant setback to the Indian election commission, which is already under the radar over election mismanagement allegations.
