CM Revanth Considering Free Bus For Senior Citizens?

The government of Telangana has been successfully implementing the Mahalakshmi program as a part of which women across the state can travel free of cost in the RTC buses. This is one of the successful implementation by the Telangana government in recent times.

CM Revanth Reddy has gained significant goodwill with the female population thanks to the successful implementation of this program. Now the latest developments are suggesting that he is considering the area of expanding this free RTC bus travel program to the senior citizen population as well.

If this new idea comes to implementation, it could bring major relief to pensioners, and elderly people living alone, particularly in rural areas who depend on public transport to access hospitals, healthcare services and essential facilities in towns.

Reportedly, the government will do a detailed assessment of the eligible age group, the categories of bus services covered and the financial implications. A funding mechanism similar to the reimbursement provided for women’s free travel will be considered.

This might add a significant financial burden on the Telangana government, but this can be considered as a tactical master class from Revanth Reddy if it is implemented. He has already come closer to the female voting population. And if the senior citizen are also provided with free bus service, it could shift the entire rural voter base towards Congress.
