Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained by Delhi Police shortly after their flight landed in the national capital on Saturday.

According to video posted by Dipke, police personnel entered the aircraft and detained them before they could even step out of the plane. They were travelling to attend the party’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The CJP has alleged that the detentions were aimed at preventing people from joining the protest. The demonstration centres on alleged irregularities in voter list revisions. Delhi Police denied permission for the gathering, citing law and order concerns, while security was tightened across the capital.
