Pawan’s Statement Hurts TDP Cadre?

AP Deputy CM and Janasena Party Chief Pawan Kalyan’s latest statements have become the centre of controversy.

Speaking at the Adavi Thalli Bata 2.0 launch meeting today, Pawan Kalyan stated that Janasainiks and Veera Mahilas were the first to step out to support TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu at the time of his arrest in 2023. Pawan went on to state the sacrifices made by Janasena leaders for Chandrababu and the alliance. He said Janasena leaders and supporters had unconditionally supported the alliance upon his call.

But Pawan’s statements were highly confusing. Pawan said that when no one was on the streets protesting Chandrababu’s arrest, Janasena leaders had taken to the streets. Whereas, TDP leaders and supporters, from AP to Telangana to America, had unconditionally protested Naidu’s arrest.

In fact, many IT people in Hyderabad held various voluntary protests in the Hyderabad Metro and several other public places, which also caught the attention of then minister KTR. KTR faced severe backlash for his stand against such protests in Hyderabad. A large public meeting was also held in Hyderabad against Naidu’s arrest.

TDP leaders and party workers are bringing back all such videos in which TDP cadres strongly stood in support of Chandrababu when he was put in Rajahmundry Central Prison. Now, TDP leaders are questioning Pawan for his remarks and asking him why he said so.

Pawan’s context might be something else, but he should at least say that Janasainiks joined the protests along with TDP cadre.

With municipal and panchayat elections coming up, this is the most sensitive time for maintaining alliance stability. A leader of Pawan’s stature should make such statements with utmost care. Otherwise, these can lead to big issues and give the opposition a tool to project the context in the wrong way.

TDP and Janasena are in an alliance, and the duo stormed to power in the 2024 elections. The alliance is very crucial and needs a lot of care to maintain and continue. It would be good for Pawan to clear this debate with another statement with utmost clarity, as TDP cadres are deeply hurt.
