Exclusive: MP Bharat On TDP & JSP Equations In Vizag Local Polls

With Andhra Pradesh gearing up for local body elections, seat sharing among the NDA partners is expected to be a major talking point. Visakhapatnam MP Bharat, in an exclusive conversation with Gulte’s Nishant, explained why balancing the expectations of TDP, Jana Sena and BJP leaders will be important for the alliance.

Bharat said every leader has political ambitions, but their individual strengths and electoral capabilities can be different. He believes an honest assessment of candidates and their ground level support is necessary before deciding who should contest from each seat.

According to him, some leaders may overestimate their strength, while others may genuinely need an opportunity to grow. This makes the process sensitive, especially when leaders and party workers have different expectations.

The MP said seat allocation should not become a matter of personal prestige. Instead, the alliance needs to identify candidates who can win and work for the people. He also stressed that the assessment should be fair to all three parties.

Bharat acknowledged that the ground reality in local elections can be different from Assembly and Parliament polls. Local rivalries may create friction if alliance partners contest against each other, and such differences could affect their relationship in future elections.

He said he maintains friendly relations with Janasena and BJP leaders in Visakhapatnam and would try to ensure a fair approach. However, he believes broader guidance from the alliance leadership would make coordination easier.

Bharat said the coalition partners have come together for the larger interests of the state and must remain flexible. With local elections approaching, the challenge will be to balance individual ambitions, cadre expectations and the alliance’s overall prospects.
