YCP More Interested in TDP-Janasena Catfight

The amalgamation of the NDA alliance has resulted in YCP getting depleted from 151 seats to 11 seats in the Andhra Pradesh election. And now we are already preparing for another election campaign in the form of the local body polls that are coming up this month.

As expected the seat distribution aspect between the ruling parties, Telugu Desam, Janasena and BJP has become major news. There is a bit of political murmur and confrontation that’s happening with regard to the prominence given to each party but that’s a part of the game.

But it turns out to be that YSR Congress is more focussed on the internal conflict within the alliance parties than their own electoral prospect. They seem more eager to watch TDP and Janasena fight over seats than to worry about whether their own party can put up a serious fight in the local body elections.

The YCP groups on social media are almost entirely focussed on elevating the internal scenario between Telugu Desam and Janasena regarding the seat sharing. They are more interested in watching the power struggle between the parties in power while their own YCP candidates are in the dark.

There is a lot of confusion on the candidate selection of YCP as this is anyway going to be a losing cause. This is the reason why several leaders associated with the party are not even interested in contesting the local election.

While there is a lot of contemplation and repair work to be done within the YCP ranks, the party leaders are still staring at the power struggle between TDP and JSP. It is true that there is a bit of conflict happening between the ruling parties and that’s always expected in the case of an alliance.

The primary focus of YCP should have been to sustain their own party by fielding reasonable candidates. But their priorities have been all over the place. Projecting the internal scenario of the alliance and hoping for a bigger fight to break out while YCP candidates are left in the dark is not a right strategy.

At the end of the day, the political warfare must be about improving one’s own strength rather than waiting for rewards when the stronger and more consolidated parties are in a power battle. This might give momentary happiness to watch their opponents tussle but will not help YCP’s own prospect in any way.
