In the recent past, the prices of several electrical appliances have gone up drastically due to the shortage in supply and manufacturing complications. But it appears that Andhra Pradesh has a solid solution for this.
On one hand, the government of Andhra Pradesh is permitting easy establishment of industries and on the other hand, the vast port connection and easy transport facilities are changing the game.
In this connection, we have the arrival of Chinese electrical appliance manufacturing company Haier coming up in the Tirupati District of Andhra Pradesh.
Scheduled for completion in two phases by 2032, the Haier manufacturing project is expected to generate 21,000 jobs, including 6,000 direct and 15,000 indirect employment opportunities.
Haier, which currently operates manufacturing plants in Pune and Greater Noida, plans to invest Rs 4,500 crore in the first phase and another Rs 2,500 crore in the second phase. For the proposed facility, the Andhra Pradesh government has earmarked 250 acres in Satyavedu mandal of Tirupati district.
The project specifications will include air conditioners, washing machines, televisions, air purifiers and kitchen appliances, with the first phase expected to become operational by 2028.
Located within the Tirupati–Chennai–Nellore electronics manufacturing corridor, the site is close to Sri City, where LG Electronics is developing its third manufacturing plant in India.
At a time when not just India but all of the world is struggling with supply chain issues regarding electrical appliances, Andhra Pradesh is making steady progress in manufacturing department. If several such projects takeoff in the next few years, Andhra could soon become the manufacturing hub of India.
