The venue for the wedding ceremony of Andhra Pradesh Congress president Sharmila’s daughter Anjili has become the central point of many political discussions for the last one week.
It was reported that Jagan was reluctant to permit the wedding happening at his Yelahanka House and communicated this to Sharmila. But Sharmila was having none of this as even printed out the wedding reception invitations with the Yelahanka house as the venue.
In fact, the matter had reached chief minister Chandrababu as he publicly criticised Jagan today for trying to abstract the wedding of his own niece.
In response to this, Jagan has released a public letter to Sharmila while fondly referring to her as Sharmi and discussing his reluctance to permit the wedding at the Yelahanka House.
Jagan pointed out that there are multiple security concerns for the wedding to happen at his house, which would post a serious threat to his safety, and also that of his family members.
Even if it were for Harsha or Varsha(Jagan’s own daughters) I would have done the same. I am currently living here and this type of event would draw a lot of unnecessary attention along with security concerns. At the end of the day, this is my home and I want to ensure that me and my family are safe here, Jagan wrote in this letter to Sharmila.
Jagan further added “So once again, I ask that you consider my position on this matter and find another venue for the wedding. If you don’t want to use a convention centre or a destination wedding venue as you did for Raja’s wedding, I’ve even offered you use of my Hyderabad Lotus Pond property, and that offer still stands.”
The fact that Jagan has offered his lotus pond residence for the wedding ceremony of Sharmila’s daughter is an indication that he is willing to provide an alternative.
But at the end of the day, the comfort of the family members, including Sharmila also needs to be kept in mind as this is a joint property and it is natural for her to persist with it and wanting to hold her daughter’s wedding here.
