Viral Video: Jagananna’s Sensitive Move Towards Basavanna

Festivals remind the fact that human beings are dependent on animals and nature for their livelihood. Acknowledging the same, animals too are worshipped during certain festivals.

The three-day Sankranti is one such festival which involves worship of animals as well as enjoyment through bulls and cockfights.

As part of the tradition, bulls are made to do some feats like shaking their heads, legs and also do some balancing acts. During one such display of feats before Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Basavanna or Gangireddu (the decorated bull) began moving its head standing beside an iron post in a fence.

Sensing the danger the post could cause to the animal, Jagan placed his hand on the post to prevent the animal from being hurt while it was moving its head. He even caressed it and slightly pushed its head away from the iron post so as to avoid injury to the bull.

This video has gone viral as it showed the soft side of the CM, which is in contrast to his determination over not going back on his words – Maata Tappadu, madama tippadu – with respect to implementation of welfare programmes in the state. His tender heart caught people’s attention.

The video surprised many as he is always considered to be a workaholic immersed in work round-the-clock.
