10th & Inter Exams: HC Tells AP Govt To Rethink!

The High Court of Andhra Pradesh has taken up the various Public Interest Litigations (PILs) filed against conducting the Class 10th and Intermediate exams in the state. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the High Court has advised the state government to rethink its decision on conducting the exams to students given the surge in Covid-19 cases. The court has posted the next hearing to May 3rd.

While hearing the debate, the court commented, “How can Covid-infected students participate in exams? How are they allowed to write exams?” Replying to the court’s question, the advocate of the state government said that special arrangements are being made for Covid-infected students.

The court further questioned how the Covid-infected students could mentally prepare and write the exams. The High Court noted that the number of Covid-19 cases are increasing rapidly in the state with each passing day and it has asked the state government to reconsider its decision on conducting the exams. The High Court also referred to the other states that have either postponed or cancelled the exams given the pandemic.
