The Tamil Nadu people delivered an extraordinary verdict by electing first time contesting Vijay to power in the recent assembly elections. But the series of events following this were rather odd and a few of them involve a discussion on Rajinikanth as well.
The fact that Rajini met with Stalin after the election defeat and announced full support while not meeting Vijay even for courtesy gave rise to many narratives. People even pointed out that another senior star Kamal Hassan took the time to meet Vijay but Rajini completely avoided this due to jealousy and selective bias.
However, Rajini was not willing to have any of it as he blasted out at the accusations today while briefing the media.
“Vijay has achieved even more than MGR and NTR. He won by independently taking on the BJP at the Centre and the two major Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu. It fills me with surprise and happiness” Rajini said in this context.
Rajini further added that he was extremely and delightfully shocked when he heard that Vijay had become the Chief Minister.
“I am not in politics, it has been many days since I stepped away from politics. There is a 28-year age difference between Vijay and me. Here, Vijay has independently earned recognition by standing against the two major parties.”
On the narrative about meeting Stalin out of jealousy against Vijay, Rajini said “Afterthe election results, I went and met MK Stalin, and that became a subject of criticism. Our friendship is beyond politics. I felt saddened that MK Stalin was defeated in Kulathur.
Rajini is not a cheap or low-standard person to speak unnecessarily about anything else. As soon as the Chief Minister won, I conveyed my congratulations to him immediately, he concluded.
