T20 WC: Test for MS Dhoni’s Mentorship Begins Today

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is currently the mentor of the Indian Cricket Team for the ongoing T20 World Cup. Interestingly, he is not charging a rupee for offering his services to the cricket board.

Dhoni has been a part of the T20 World Cups until now. This time, he will be contributing his services in a new role. The former Indian captain announced his retirement on August 15, 2020. His last international appearance was in the Semi-Final match against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup.

Interestingly, his mentorship has helped Team India win both the warm-up matches in Dubai. Team India tasted victory against Australia and England in the warm-up matches successfully. The young players are getting the right guidance from MS Dhoni, say the reports.

However, the big day has arrived. The Super12 battle started yesterday. Today, India will play against Pakistan. The match is not a test for the team India but is also a test for MS Dhoni’s mentorship skills. He is the first Indian captain to bring the T20 world cup. If he achieves the same as a mentor, there is a chance that the officials at BCCI request him to continue his services to the team.

Currently, Dhoni is leading Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. He led his team to the victory in the recently concluded edition. The team management confirmed that they will retain MS Dhoni in the mega auction.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni will not charge a single rupee for mentoring Team India in the upcoming T20 World Cup. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly also confirmed the same. “Dhoni will not charge anything to mentor the Indian team,” said Ganguly.
