IPL: End of Chris Gayle, Suresh Raina & ABD

Indian Premier League was started in 2008 amidst huge fanfare. Since then, the tournament has been progressing successfully and has now become one of the biggest sporting leagues in the world. There are many players who made IPL popular across the globe.

The league will not be witnessing three of such players anymore in the future. They are Suresh Raina, AB De Villiers, and Chris Gayle. All of them are among the top-10 run scorers of the league. In every edition, they used to entertain us with their batting performances. But we cannot see them on the field from IPL 2022.

ABD announced his retirement from all forms of cricket right after the conclusion of IPL 2021. He was one of the backbones for Royal Challengers Bangalore, along with Virat Kohli. RCB will not be the same without AB from now on.

On the flip side, Chris Gayle didn’t announce retiring from the IPL officially. But he didn’t register his name for the mega auction. That proved that this legendary cricketer’s services have come to an end. Gayle has the most number of sixes and the highest individual score in the history of IPL. He will be fondly remembered for his services to Royal Challengers Bangalore until 2018.

Another southpaw who is exiting the league is Suresh Raina. This iconic IPL player was a match-winner for Chennai Super Kings in many instances over the years. However, CSK didn’t retain him and that made Raina enter the mega auction. However, no team was interested to buy Raina in any round of the auction, and shockingly, he remained unsold.

IPL will not be the same anymore with the absence of these cricketers. It has to be seen if any other players can recreate the legacy these guys had formed for the league.
