Sunrisers Hyderabad were one of the favourites for the IPL title this year. After finishing the 2024 season on a high by reaching the finals, great things were expected from Hyderabad in 2025.
However, Hyderabad was absolutely poor with the bat during the middle phase of the tournament, and this ultimately cost them dearly. They ended up getting eliminated in the group stage itself.
It’s important to note that Hyderabad started the tournament strongly with the bat in their very first game, and they followed it up with another solid performance towards the end of the season.
In fact, Hyderabad were sensational in their final game of the tournament against Kolkata Knight Riders. After scoring a mammoth 278 runs, they won the game by a record 110 runs.
While Hyderabad were brilliant at both the beginning and the end of the tournament, it was the middle phase where things went terribly wrong. Had they managed to win just two or three games during that period, they could have ended up in a completely different position.
The hope now is that Hyderabad will regroup and come back stronger next season. Some smart decisions in the upcoming auction could make a world of difference for this SRH side.
