The inevitable has happened in the game between India and Pakistan last night as the men in blue were able to comprehensively beat the Pakistani team in the super four stage of the Asia Cup tournament.
Pakistan got to bat first and they scored a decent 171 on a good batting surface. At the closing stages of the first evenings, Pakistan might have felt that they had a real chance in defending this total.
However, what followed was an absolute bloodbath as Indian openers, Shubhman Gill, and Abhishek Sharma were absolutely relentless with the bat. They stitched together a century partnership and were absolutely dominant with the bat.
That being said, India struggled a bit after both Gill and Abhishek fell correspondingly. At one point, India need a 24 runs to win from 20 balls which led to some anxiety. But thanks to some clever batting by Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma in the closing stages, India reached safe shores in the end.
In the end, India ended up beating Pakistan by a margin of six wickets and had an over to spare as well. Incidentally, this is the highest run chase that India could successfully complete against Pakistan and the men in blue have set a new record in a crucial game of the Asia Cup tournament.
