CSK Epic Downfall: Who Is The Main Villain?

Chennai Super Kings is one of the leading teams in the history of IPL and the kind of legacy that they have built for themselves or the years is beyond any questioning. The team was absolutely rock solid under the captaincy of Dhoni and they attained insane following in the Indian cricket arena.

However, things have been going horribly for Chennai Super Kings in recent years, and this reached the pinnacle point as the team has completed hattrick of defeats in the 2026 season.

It has reached a point where other team fans are trolling Chennai fans by saying their teams will get two easy points when facing CSK and hoping it would happen at the earliest.

There are multiple factors contributing to the pathetic form that is being displayed by Chennai Super Kings, but the main calculate will be the disastrous opening partnership. Sanju Samson and Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad are not just failing to give positive start, but they are also wasting too many deliveries in the powerplay. So CSK is having to start the game from a negative point from the powerplay itself.

Along with that, the team is struggling without a strong middle order as youngsters like Ayush Mhatre, Sarfaraz Khan and Prashanth Veer are having to do the bulk of the scoring. Comparatively Sarfaraz is better, but the rest of the middle order is badly out of form. Ayush was good in one game and that’s about it.

The bowling department is absolutely pathetic to say the least as they have contributed more than 600 runs in the first three games. The trademark bowling performances of Chennai are completely missing.

The absence of Dhoni on the field could be a large contributing factor as well, considering his insane captaincy skills. He had the capability to bring the team out of tough situations in the past, but that thought process is missing in the CSK camp now.

It is sad to see one of the rich legacy teams in IPL history facing such a pathetic situation where they have lost the first three games of the season already, and that also in a very humiliating manner.

Dhoni and young batsman Dewald Brewis are likely to return sometime soon in the tournament but even then, will the ongoing struggles in the CSK camp allow them to get back to winning ways consistently? Or will it be too late by then already considering that the games are done and dusted and a few more will unfold in a couple of weeks.
