The first two rounds of the ongoing IPL 2026 have been completed as all the teams have completed at least two games while a handful of teams have completed three games.
And if we look at the points table, that is on display, it is Punjab Kings, who were the finalists last year at the top of the table. Fittingly enough, we have Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who happened to be the defending champions, in second position.
In third and fourth places, we have Rajasthan and Delhi, respectively. Sunrisers Hyderabad, who had won just a single game out of the three games that they had played are somehow in the fifth position.
Sixth position is occupied by Mumbai Indians and they are followed by Lucknow at seventh position. Teams like Chennai, Kolkata, and Gujarat have not won a single game till now and they’re at the bottom of the table.
What is for certain is that last year finalists Punjab and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are in top form again this year. There is every chance that both the team smiled again be progressing for the play-offs this year.
Mumbai, Indians and Rajasthan also have a realistic chance of qualifying to the next phase. Delhi and Hyderabad will have to be on the top of their game if they are to maintain this momentum and progress to the playoffs.
These are the current projections based on the existing position on the points table, and we have to patiently wait and see if this would actually turn out to be the case in the near future.
