One of the most decisive games of the ongoing season of IPL 2026 happened in Chennai today as Chennai Super Kings came up against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The winner of this game was bound to progress to the play-offs, so there was a lot depending on the same. This was precisely why everyone were surprised when Chennai captain Ruturaj Gaikwad elected to bat first.
But Chennai managed to post a decent score of 180 runs in the first innings and Hyderabad 181 to win the game. Just when things were getting tight for Hyderabad in the second innings some poor bowling changes made by Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad by opting for pace options over spin, costed Chennai badly.
In the end, Hyderabad chased down the target comfortably with an over to spare, and have successfully progressed to the play-offs. They have qualified for the playoff along with Gujarat Titans and still have a game to spare.
CSK will now have to depend on the results of the upcoming games of Punjab and Rajasthan to determine if they’d qualify or get relegated.
