Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the biggest name associated with IPL in India, but strangely he was not a part of the recent 2026 season as Chennai completed the entire journey without his participation on the ground.
Fans were utterly disappointed about the fact that they could not get a glimpse of Dhoni on the field as they had patiently waited for an entire year to watch him in action. He had been suffering from an injury and was not able to recover on time.
Now the CEO of Chennai Super Kings has commented that Dhoni will be a permanent part of the Chennai Super Kings franchise, and there are no two ways about it. He was of the implication that Dhoni would perhaps be a mentor for the team or would even be taking charge as the coach at a different capacity later.
However, this is not entirely good news for fans as they were patiently waiting for Dhoni to step on the field to watch him in action after a long break.
But considering Dhoni did not partake in this season, there is a chance that he might have potentially retired from the format. In that case, there will be a strong regret from fans that they could not give a proper farewell to their beloved hero.
The expectation now is that Dhoni would at least take part in a farewell game, so that fans can celebrate him for one last time. But considering his simplistic nature and no fuss approach, there’s a chance that he might silently move away from the game without any farewell stuff.
