Vihari & Ashwin Rescue The Sydney Test

The third Test match between India and Australia has ended in a draw. On day 5, India resumed their innings at overnight score of 98 runs for the loss of two wickets. However, skipper Rahane was dismissed on the second over by Lyon for just four runs. Then came wicket keeper Rishab Pant. He took on the Australia bowlers and smashed them over all over the Sydney ground.

Just when Pant was cruising towards a Test ton, he was dismissed by Lyon and in the next over, Pujara was bowled by Hazlewood. India were five wickets and many lost hope over the Test. But it was Hanuma Vihari and Ravi Ashwin who batted for close to 44 overs without losing their wicket. This has irked the Australians miserably and all their attempts failed. They even tried to sledge Vihari and Ashwin but the Indian batsmen held the nerve. Compliments are pouring down for both the batsmen.

However, Australians were sloppy on the field especially captain Tim Paine who dropped Vihari at a crucial point. With just one over to end the day, the umpires and teams have conceded the draw.

Steve Smith was awarded ‘Man of the Match’ award for a century and half-ton in first and second innings respectively.
