Mercedes-Benz to go electric from next year

Electric vehicles are the future of the automobile industry. It is quite evident after witnessing the trend for the last few years. Even in a country like India, electric vehicles are gaining prominence among consumers. Following this trend, the automobile giant Mercedes-Benz took a big decision.

Mercedes-Benz is all set to go electric for every car from 2022. That means it will produce battery electric vehicles (BEV) in all segments. Additionally, it also planned to make all newly launched automobile architectures to be electric-only from 2025.

Meanwhile, customers will have a choice of choosing an electric alternative for every vehicle the company makes. In 2025, Benz will launch three exclusive electric models.

Mercedez-Benz is aiming to produce a BEV alternative for every vehicle by the end of this decade. The shift of electric-first to electric-only strategy is because the company wants to work towards an emissions-free and software-driven future.

Mercedez-Benz is planning to set up 5,30,000 charging points worldwide, in order to facilitate the BEVs. The reports estimate that the total investment in battery electric vehicles between 2022 and 2030 will be over €40 billion.
